Every Game drive in the Pilanesberg is different, as guides we drive through the gate and never know exactly what is going to happen. This all adds to the excitement as we head out on a game drive.

This month the rain has started (nice and early this year). Everything has started turning green again and any day now we will start to see the babies. Here are some highlights from October that we would like to share with you.

Every Game drive in the Pilanesberg is different, as guides we drive through the gate and never know exactly what is going to happen. This all adds to the excitement as we head out on a game drive. The sightings lately have really been great as the park has been quite dry making it easier to spot animals, especially around waterholes. Here are some sightings highlights from the last month.

Female Cheetah Rain and her current three cubs.

Female Cheetah Rain and her current three cubs.

It has been amazing to see how fast the cheetah cubs have grown and how they are developing into the little hunters they were born to be, thanx to moms guidance of course.

The youngsters were born around May 2016 and were first seen in July 2016 at around 8/10 weeks old. There were originally 4 cubs but unfortunately one didn’t make it. Rain being able to raise the three remaining cubs successfully thus far is a great accomplishment.

I have just been through some photos from last year July and now photos of them this year July and man have they grown!

Aardvark in Pilanesberg!

Early in the morning on the 5 May Mankwe GAMETRACKERS guide Tarryn Rae had a sighting of the last thing one would expect to see in Pilanesberg . . . An Aardvark!
After fetching guests for the hot air balloon safari and making their way to launch site. Tarryn and her guests saw something move to the side of the road. “At first I thought it was a brown Hyena, once we got a little closer I realized what it was”. ” I can’t explain how excited I was to see this amazing nocturnal creature”. Tarryn managed to get this short video of the Aardvark before it disappeared.

Bush Roadblocks

Bush Roadblocks

In the city there is nothing worse than being stuck in traffic after a long day. In the bush we deal with traffic and road blocks of a different kind. I’m sure all the guides will agree that a Bush roadblock is a much better roadblock to be stuck in.

Here are some of the roadblocks we have experienced while on Game drive in the Pilanesberg National Park.
