Celebrating Arbor Day: Growing Roots of Sustainability with the Vegetable Garden Project

On 5 September 2025, the dusty soil at Bakubung and Ratheo Primary Schools was alive with excitement. Little hands gripped spades, laughter filled the air, and the simple act of planting became something extraordinary.

This year, Mankwe GAMETRACKERS, together with It Belongs To Me NPC and Top Turf, celebrated Arbor Day by creating a Vegetable Garden Project that will continue to feed and inspire long after the day has passed.

It was a celebration not just of trees, but of life, growth, and community.

Why Arbor Day Matters So Deeply

Every year, Arbor Day and Arbor Month remind us of something profound: planting today is an investment in tomorrow.

🌱 Trees give us breath. They clean the air, fight climate change, and shelter countless species.
🌱 They give us strength. From fruit on a tree to shade on a summer’s day, nature sustains our bodies and spirits.
🌱 They give us legacy. A tree planted today will stand tall for our children and their children, reminding them of the care we showed.

This year, we went beyond planting trees. By combining Arbor Day with a vegetable garden, we turned this celebration into an act of sustainable tourism and community upliftment. Instead of just greening the earth, we created a space that will nourish families, teach children valuable life skills, and grow resilience in the community.

A Living Classroom and a Lasting Gift

Under the watchful eyes of their teachers, 20 young learners rolled up their sleeves and planted seedlings with purpose. For many, it was their first time experiencing the magic of growing food. The garden they built together will become:

✨ A classroom under the sun – teaching children how nature rewards patience, teamwork, and responsibility.
✨ A source of nourishment – providing fresh produce to those who need it most.
✨ A symbol of hope – proof that small hands and big dreams can make real change.

Moments like these show us that Arbor Day isn’t just about trees. It’s about growing a culture of care — for the planet, for one another, and for the generations yet to come.

Collaboration in Action

The success of the Vegetable Garden Project was only possible because of teamwork. It Belongs To Me, Top Turf, and Mankwe GAMETRACKERS each brought unique strengths to the day.

We were also honoured to have Mr. Thai, CEO of Mankwe GAMETRACKERS, present to share in the planting and celebration. His leadership and encouragement highlighted our shared belief that caring for the earth goes hand in hand with caring for people.

To round off the day, Mankwe GAMETRACKERS hosted a lunch and refreshments for all learners and participants. As the children enjoyed their meals and shared laughter, it was clear that Arbor Day had given them more than just a garden — it had given them joyful memories and a renewed sense of possibility.

Planting for the Future

At Mankwe GAMETRACKERS, we believe that tourism should do more than showcase nature’s beauty. It should protect it, nurture it, and give back to the people who call it home. That’s why we continue to invest in projects that balance conservation with community upliftment.

This Arbor Day, we planted more than vegetables.
We planted knowledge.
We planted resilience.
We planted hope.

And just like the seedlings in the soil, this hope will grow. Strong, rooted, and reaching for the future.
